The Legendary Rivals BOSEM Class 7 Solutions
A mukna-kangjei match took place between the king’s side and the king’s brother. The king’s side included a handsome young man named Nongban, who was not only a champion wrestler but also excelled in mukna-kangjei. In Moirang, where the game was held, no one could match his skill. However, on the sidelines of the field, a stout and handsome young man caught someone’s eye and was invited to join the game. The young man hesitated, citing that he lacked proper attire for the game. Another person offered him his clothes, and the crowd was thrilled to find a worthy opponent for Nongban.
During the match, the young man defeated Nongban decisively, proving himself to be more than a match for the champion. The crowd erupted in joy at this unexpected turn of events.
Following the mukna-kangjei match, a wrestling competition was held where Nongban had remained undefeated for seven years. Yet again, the unknown man defeated Nongban, claiming the title of the new champion. News of Nongban’s defeat spread to the minister’s house. The minister, curious and somewhat displeased by the defeat, summoned the young man and demanded to know his name. The man, claiming to be very poor and nameless, faced the minister’s anger. However, a young and beautiful woman rushed in and pleaded with the minister not to punish her brother, revealing that his name was Khamba and she was Khamnu. They were orphans, with their parents being Puremba and Ngangkhareima.
Upon learning this, the minister was moved to tears as he had been searching for his friend’s children for a long time. Khamba and Khamnu had been raised by Kabui Salang Maiba. Khamnu was even married to the minister’s son, Pheiroijamba. This revelation brought joy to the people of Moirang, and the legendary wrestling match between Khamba and Nongban became immortalized in their history. Even today, Mukna remains a popular Manipuri style of wrestling.
